Pidurangala Night Safari: Track the Elusive Grey Slender Loris
Experience one of Sri Lanka’s most sought-after night safaris at Back of Beyond Jungle Hideaway Pidurangala. This guided night walk takes you deep into rainforest habitat in search of the rare and elusive Grey Slender Loris — a nocturnal encounter that’s quickly become a favorite among nature lovers and wildlife photographers exploring Sigiriya.
How it works
The safari begins around 7:00 PM with a short presentation by our resident naturalist, covering the behavior, ecology, and conservation status of the Grey Slender Loris and other nocturnal species found in the area.
From there, guests head into the forest on a guided night walk. Keep an eye on the canopy — these small primates, known for their large reflective eyes and slow, deliberate movements, are often spotted moving quietly through the trees.
Why Pidurangala
Low light pollution and rich biodiversity make Pidurangala one of the best places in Sri Lanka for nocturnal wildlife spotting. Along with the loris, keep watch for owls, geckos, and other forest dwellers — all set against the immersive sounds of the jungle at night.
It’s an experience that blends adventure, conservation awareness, and a rare glimpse into Sri Lanka’s hidden forest ecosystem — perfect for photographers, nature enthusiasts, and anyone drawn to a different side of eco-tourism.
