Minneriya or Kaudulla or eco National Park Evening Safari

Starting in the late afternoon, the safari heads to the park where elephants have recently been seen, maximizing the chances of spotting large herds. If in Minneriya, you’ll witness elephants congregating near the iconic Minneriya Reservoir; in Kaudulla, the open plains around the Kaudulla Reservoir provide similarly breathtaking views. Alternatively, if the herd is in Eco Park, the safari will focus on the beautiful scrubland, giving an intimate look at these majestic animals.

Aside from elephants, you might spot sambar deer, wild buffalo, and a variety of bird species, such as painted storks and pelicans, attracted by the water sources. The fading sunlight creates a warm, natural glow across the park’s landscape, adding a perfect backdrop for photos as the animals gather by the water. This flexible approach ensures you’ll witness the famous elephant gatherings in the most active and scenic location available.
